Our Founding Story
Elise McCann and Lucy Durack are two of Australia’s most bright and bubbly performers known for playing roles across stage, film and TV that are positive and pragmatic with kindness at heart.
They channel this effervescence into everything in their life from work to family and friends. When handed some pandemic lemons they took their pragmatic optimism one step further and set about making a support app that could help everyone turn their lemons into lemonade.
In 2020, Elise McCann & Lucy Durack (like everyone except people who owned caravans and jigsaw puzzles) had been handed 5 hundred 25 thousand 600 hundred lemons. Their industry had been shut down. Determined not to be sour, Elise and Lucy looked for support for the things that weren’t serious serious, but were serious to them. They turned to wellness and meditation apps but they found everything was too woo-woo, too big a time commitment or they didn’t connect to the guiding voice. They were often left feeling like they weren’t doing it right.
Elise and Lucy went for a walk and a chat, and realised that it was exactly “this” they were looking for – a pep talk from a friend to nip small stresses in the bud before they become bigger. They searched for an app that emulated this idea but found absolutely nudda. So, Elise and Lucy took their lemons and started the journey to make Hey Lemonade! In doing so, they brought together the best of Australian creative writers, voices, psychologists, tech wizards and business legends to bring their sweet vision to life.
