Jamila Rizvi is a sought-after keynote speaker, best-selling author, media presenter, and gender equality advocate. Jamila currently works as the Deputy Managing Director of Future Women, where she supports organisations and their employees towards gender equality at work.
A best-selling author for adults and children, Jamila has written two books Not Just Lucky (2017) and I’m a Hero Too (2020)], and edited three, The Motherhood (2018), Untold Resilience (2020) and Work. Love. Body. (2021) with her fifth publication with Penguin Random House due for release in 2023.
Jamila is a columnist for Sunday Life magazine, which is part of The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald, where she writes about gender, politics, parenthood, health, and friendship. She is co-host of The Briefing podcast, and hosts the hugely popular weekend instalment of the show.
Previously, Jamila advised the Rudd and Gillard Governments on gender equality, early childhood education, media and employment participation. She has been named in the Australian Financial Review’s 100 Women of Influence and was a 2020 Women and Leadership Australia award winner.
Jamila is a board member of the Wheeler Centre for Books, Writing and Ideas, and an ambassador for PLAN International and the Royal Melbourne Hospital Neuroscience Foundation. She lives and works on Wurundjeri land in Melbourne with her husband, 7-year-old son and large, overenthusiastic puppy called Sonny.
