Michelle Law is an award-winning writer and actor. She works across print, film and television, and theatre. Some of her work includes the highly-acclaimed play Single Asian Female, which earned 5-star reviews and sold-out seasons in Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne. In 2021, Auckland Theatre Company staged an original production of the work. In 2022, State Theatre Company South Australia will stage their own production. Her latest play Top Coat was staged in 2022 at the Sydney Theatre Company, gaining 4.5-star reviews.
Michelle co-created, co-wrote and starred in Homecoming Queens, the first web series commissioned by SBS. The show won an Australian Writers Guild award, Best Screenplay at the Melbourne Web Fest, Best Comedy Performance at the Equity Ensemble Awards, and was nominated for an AACTA award. More recently, Michelle has been a writer for the upcoming SBS drama series Safe Home.
Beyond performance writing, Michelle is also a published author who has written for many magazines, journals and broadsheet newspapers. In 2016, she won the Queensland Premier’s Young Publishers and Writers Award. Her book, Asian Girls are Going Places, was published with Hardie Grant in 2022.
